Looking at FreeBSD 6 and Beyond
Looking at FreeBSD 6 and Beyond: "Yet another sickening blow has struck what's left of the Linux community, as a soon-to-be-released report by the independent Commision for Technology Management (CTM) after a year-long study has concluded: Linux is already dead. Here are some of the commission's findings:
Fact: Linux has balkanized yet again. There are now no less than 140 separate, competing Linux distros, each of which has introduced fundamental incompatibilities with the other distros, and frequently with Unix standards. Average number of developers in each project (except for Redhat and Novell/Suse): fewer than five. Average number of users per project: there are no definitive numbers, but reports show that all projects are on the decline.
Fact: The trivial issue os what to call Linux continues to hound Linux. At a recent Linux conference in San Francisco, a fight broke out between RMS (Richard M. Stallman) who says Linux should be called GNU/Linux and Linus Torvalds who created Linux and says that Linux should be called Linux. This led to a massive barroom style brawl involving at least 150 Linux geeks. The SFPD was called out to break up the melee, and arrested 150 people. It was estimated that at least 2 to 3 times that many were involved in the brawl, but there wasn't enough police on hand to arrest or count all of them. Sixty one people were hospitalized as a result of this brawl, and one person is still in a coma. Another three people had to get their jaws wired shut.
Fact: Linux is plagued by a lack of professionalism. The stereotype of Linux users being fat unwashed dateless geeks who still live in their parents' basements and refuse to shower more than once a month is all too true. The best example of this is RMS who claims to have a 'water phobia' and thus rarely bathes. RMS also looks like he has been living in a cave for the last 5 years. In fact, RMS has been arrested twice because"

Grandfather kills leopard with his hands - Yahoo! News
Grandfather kills leopard with his hands - Yahoo! News: "NAIROBI (Reuters) - A 73-year-old Kenyan grandfather reached into the mouth of an attacking leopard and tore out its tongue to kill it, authorities said Wednesday.
Peasant farmer Daniel M'Mburugu was tending to his potato and bean crops in a rural area near Mount Kenya when the leopard charged out of the long grass and leapt on him.
M'Mburugu had a machete in one hand but dropped that to thrust his fist down the leopard's mouth. He gradually managed to pull out the animal's tongue, leaving it in its death-throes.
'It let out a blood-curdling snarl that made the birds stop chirping,' he told the daily Standard newspaper of how the leopard came at him and knocked him over.
The leopard sank its teeth into the farmer's wrist and mauled him with its claws. 'A voice, which must have come from God, whispered to me to drop the panga (machete) and thrust my hand in its wide open mouth. I obeyed,' M'Mburugu said.
As the leopard was dying, a neighbor heard the screams and arrived to finish it off with a machete.
M'Mburugu was toasted as a hero in his village Kihato after the incident earlier this month. He was also given free hospital treatment by astonished local authorities.
'This guy is very lucky to be alive,' Kenya Wildlife Service official Connie Maina told Reuters, confirming details of the incident."

SPEEDTV.com F1 Cuts by 2008
SPEEDTV.com: "FIA Unveils Radical Proposal to Cut F1 Costs by 90 Percent
Written by: Cassio Cortes Paris, France 6/16/2005
FIA president Max Mosley has long argued with F1's manufacturers over the need to reduce the sport's costs. (LAT Photo)
The FIA has issued today (Thursday) a radical blueprint for Formula 1s regulations from 2008 onwards, when the current Concorde Agreement expires.
Citing the pressing need to cut costs dramatically, in view of the sports loss of two teams (Arrows and Prost) and one manufacturer (Ford) in recent years, the proposition is set to stir intense controversy, as its retrograde approach on most technology-related issues is certain to displease many at Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Renault, Toyota and Honda, the sports largest manufacturers, which are allied under the GPWC banner and threaten to quit F1 in 08.
According to the FIA, the sum of what all manufacturers spend in the sport could drop from 1.5 billion euros (1.8b dollars) to as little as 150 million if all items proposed are pressed forward.
Formula 1 must not be allowed to become a money-spending competition, today's release stated. We need more emphasis on rules which allow a clever but underfunded team to defeat a less competent but richer rival. It must not be possible simply to buy success.
This is essential for the survival of fully independent teams.
Although the project would obviously degrade F1 from its current NASA-like technological plateau, the FIA sustained that to be a good thing: It is sometimes suggested that reducing the scope for expenditure in Formula 1 reduces its technical interest or dumbs it down.
The immediate question is: reduces its technical interest to whom? It may fascinate the relevant engineers that by spending millions of euros they can build a new gearbox with ratios that are 0.25mm thinner, but no-one else knows or cares. There is no additional value for the watching public who, ultimately, pay for the whole"

Writing Well for the Web: Overcoming the Most Common Mistakes - webreference.com: "They're vs. Their vs. There. They're is a contraction for they are. Their is a possessive pronoun meaning belonging to them or of them. There is the partner of here (which is neither here nor there).
A Test: If you can replace they're/their/there with they are, then they're is correct. If you can replace they're/their/there with his or her, then their is correct. If you can replace they're/their/there with here, then there is correct."
